"The designation of which status games are acceptable is itself a status game" @Catherine the mechanic I described previously I think should be easier and more personally rewarding than getting people to pick up trash.  Then combine that with a reverse leaderboard that can be shared to offending platforms 😉

To develop on that one, maybe giving people negative points when they are in the same location but their phone are not unlocked 😅

@D J to give a counter point, this example is a specific use case of the hashtag status game/system, where people could do both positive AND vanity competition. So I don’t see the game/system itself as encouraging positive/valuable behavior. 

In this logic, I like the feature you mentioned under the other post more because that is purely encouraging people to have more valuable offline interactions with people you are connected online as well.

It's common for exercise & productivity apps have a share feature or leaderboard when you make an accomplishment. I haven't seen any, but there are probably examples of that for mental health / wellness or better relationships out there, too.
